Who We Are
Our Salem Church Family
At Salem, our roots go deep in the past--our church began forming in the 1840's when German immigrants who settled in this area gathered for worship and study, and later formally founded our congregation in 1875.
Today we are a church family of different ethnic backgrounds, ages, political views, income levels; but we are united in our desire to serve Christ faithfully.
Today we treasure the Bible as God's inspired word, breathed on by the Holy Spirit; but we believe that God gives us open and questioning minds that we can discuss, disagree, inquire, and learn.
Today we are rooted and grounded in the historic Christian faith and its rich heritage, its creeds and confessions; but we believe that God is still speaking, opening us to new ways in a new day to live out the old, old story of God's love.
Today we are Salem Church, in our differences united in Christ; grounded in our past, we look with hope and confidence towards the future.
